Cross Country Success

Well done to the Cross Country Team who competed last Wednesday at the Primary Sports Canterbury Cross Country Championships at Halswell Quarry.

We had 11 children qualify for this event and all ran very well in super conditions last week.

Sam H. was the real star of the day by winning the 9 years boys event (see picture of Sam on the podium), with approx. 100 in each race, an outstanding performance. Ben M-L was placed 19th in the same race with Ben H. 41st and Logan S-S. 68th. Emily W. qualified for the Primary Sports Canterbury Cross Country team by placing 7th in the 9 years girls race and Annabelle R. ran superbly to take 12th and become a reserve for the team. They both helped the West Zone team to 3rd place.

In the 10 years races we also did well. Goldie H. took 49th place in the girls' race and was the 3rd West Zone runner to finish after qualifying 5th. Harry McC. and Henry I. were 8th and 12th in the boys' race and both made the Canterbury team and along with Ben S. (26th) and Matt L. (41st) helped the West Zone to the silver in the teams' race.

Thanks to the parents who helped with transport and to the reserves who cheered on the team and took times.
