First ever FOS Table Tennis Teams selected!

The first ever FOS Table Tennis teams were selected after a week of trials in the last week of Term One. The Primary Sports Canterbury Friday Winter Sports competition is offering Table Tennis for the first time this year. We are allowed to enter two teams of two. After the trials four children were named in the teams. Three out of the four children chosen were from Team 7! Well done to Moss, Ben C and Maddison. Obviously having a table in their class has benefits! Joining them is Alex McN from Room 10 with reserves being Young Sung and Eric K from Room 9. Thanks to the 20+ children who trialled.

Sensational Swimmers: 9 year old team blitzes the rest!

Our swimming team performed sensationally at the Primary Sports Canterbury Swimming Championships last Monday at QEII. The hardest race to win is the 9 year old mixed 4 x 50m relay and we won it by 11 seconds! Sam H., Annabelle W, Sophie W and Alex H. were fastest qualifier from the heats and led from start to finish in the final to be about a 1/3 of the pool ahead. *

The 10 year team made the final also and came 8th which is a great effort as many of the schools have Year 7s in their teams as the children are still ten.

Individual swim of the day was from Jared C. who qualified 8th fastest in the open (up to 12 years plus and including Year 8s) 50m Butterfly final. He then came 5th in the final in 41.53, an amazing achievement. Sam H. and Sophie W also made a final in their 9 years 50m freestyle with Sophie taking 5th in 39.91 and Sam 8th in 43.00. Special mention of Moss J who was 11th fastest in the 9 years 50m backstroke in 50.72, but only 10 made the final!

* We have subsequently found out that the team were disqualified for starting before a touch, watch FOS News this Friday and make your own decision!

Teeball Trophy won and Milo Cricket trophy lost

CHAMPION A TEEBALL TEAM with coach Ted, after winning the title at Hagley Park on Friday

Our Blue Girls Milo Cricket team were soundly beaten by the St Albans A team today in their semi-final and so our Milo trophy will be lost after we won it for the first time last year. Well done Blue team for making the semis.

Our A Teeball team though, won back the trophy they lost at the end of the year last year. The A team beat Elmwood A, who were previously unbeaten this season and holders of the trophy from last season. What a fantastic result. Well done to Ted, Marama and Sue.
