Swimming Success at Centrals!!!

Sensational Stella!!! Winner of both the
9 years girls' 50m Freestyle

and Backstroke at the
Primary Sports Canterbury Swimming Championships!!!!

2nd fastest 9 years mixed relay team in Canterbury:
Bayley, Stella, Sam and Jacob

As you can see, the Swimming Team had great success at the Primary Sports Canterbury Swimming Championships at QEII today! The toughest grade to win is the 9 year old grade as the 10 years and above are weakened due to children being at Intermediate and racing next week. So Stella and the relay team did exceptionally well!

The 9 years relay was very exciting with our team 4th fastest qualifier and beaten by 4 seconds by St. Albans in their heat - but they had held back a little in reserve. In the final St. Albans got out to a big lead by swimming their fastest two swimmers one and two, but gradually both Paparoa St. and FOS began pegging them back. The final 50m was a real tussle with both Pap. St. and us (Stella) mowing St. Albans down and finally the Paparoa St. boy (later the winner of the 9 years boys' 50m freestyle final!) just holding out Stella who had steamed past St. Albans.

Stella was all class in her races, finishing strongly in both finals to win convincingly and be one of the swimmers of the meet! What a Champion!
