Sports Trophies 2009

The DAYLE HADLEE SPORTSMANSHIP CUP – YEAR 6 BOY OR GIRL

Sport plays a major part in the Senior school at Fendalton and how we play and participate in sport is as just as important as our success. The winner of the Dayle Hadlee Sportsmanship this year has shown a willingness to get involved in sport with an excellent attitude. They have demonstrated they have both the ability to win and succeed with dignity as well as lose and face disappointment with maturity and graciousness. They have been willing to support others, help organise, set out and tidy up after events as well as be an able and supportive captain and team member. They have represented the school with pride, perseverance and determination.

The winner of the Dayle Hadlee Sportsmanship Cup for 2009 is.....

Hamish Findlay

The MEYNELL JORDAN CUP FOR SPORTING EXCELLENCE- Year 6 BOY or GIRL

They were a member of our unbeaten A Hockey team (as well as being a Canterbury Hockey rep.), a member of the school, West Zone and Primary Sports Canterbury Cross Country team - which they also captained at Nelson. They were also a member of our Red Milo Cricket team that finished third and just three days ago capped off their year with victory in the Year 6 Cycle race.

2009 Cycle Champs Results

Our 2009 Cycle Champs were held today in windy and showery conditions which made for tough racing and the later races had some drama and times were much slower. Congratulations to all who raced and to those who broke school records - especially in earlier races when conditions were not as slippery.

It was great to have ex pupil MICHAEL VINK to present the medals as well as show us his bike and World Championship Bronze Medal.

The B Grade final was an all Fendalton affair with Fendalton Bullets and Fendalton C (Lightning) both winning their divisions and meeting in the final yesterday. Bullets ended up winning to claim the B Grade final.

1st, 2nd and 3rd for Relay Teams

Our Athletics team performed with distinction today at the Primary Sports Canterbury Athletics Championships.

The 10 years girls relay (Molly, Hee Jun, Daisy and Felicity) team blew away their competition to win their final by 10-15metres! They were superb. The 9 boys team (Ryan, Ed, Nathan and Logan) took a great 2nd and the 10 years boys team (Ben, Alex, Sam and Will) matched their 3rd from last year. Felicity won the 10 years girls Long Jump and Alex H led the 10 years boys Discus until the last round to end up with 2nd in a new PB. Others to take 2nd were Bayley (9 yrs girls 50m), Jordyn (9 yrs girls High Jump) and Molly (10 yrs girls 80m). The first race of the day saw Annabelle run a great race to take 3rd in the 9 years girls 1000m in 3m45s. Our other distance runners all performed well with Sam and Hamish (10 years boys 1000m) finishing 5th and 7th in a field of 36. We also had some close 4ths on the day too!

Thanks to the parents and Brent (lunchtime supervisor) who supported the team.
