West Zone Swimming Champs
The swimming team competed with great success at the West Zone Swimming sports at Jellie Park today.
Our 8 and 9 year old were very dominant and both teams were easy victors in their relays with the 9 year old team of Bayley, Sam , Jacob and Stella smoking the competition to qualify for the Centrals at QEII on Thursday 25 March. Our girls' swimming Captain, Stella, was probably the swimmer of the meet, anchoring her relay team then winning her two heats and finals. Boys' captain, Ben H, had a fantastic final in the 50m Breaststroke for 11 and unders to qualify 2nd against Year 7 and 8s. Likewise Ella B (3rd) and Bayley (4th) did very well in their Breaststroke final against older girls.

Backstroke - Stella, Annabel N., Jacob and Jack M.

Junior Teams Triathlon
Well done to all our Junior Teams Triathletes who participated in the very first junior triathlon event. This event has replaced the junior quadathlon of previous years and works well as a precursor to the middle school events. The main aims of the junior event are:
1, Participation
2, Team player skills
All students in the junior school played a part in their teams and suceeded in enabling their respective teams to complete the event.
Thank you to all the parents who came and supported the event.
Those who seek a more competitive event are encouraged to enter the Junior Duathlon event, entry forms are available outside Room 8a or can be downloaded on this blog - see the panel on the left..

Teams' Triathlon 2010

The Teams' triathlon was held today in stunning weather and it was wonderful to see so many children and parents having a go and enjoying themselves.
There were some very quick teams and others who were there to be team players and enjoy participating in their first triathlon. 116 teams started and finished! Fastest team overall were the speedy mums' - Annabel, Kate and Julieanna who were only 5 seconds off their 2009 record, finishing in 7mins. 21 secs.
The winning Year 5/6 boys' team of Ben, Ben and Logan were only 1 second off the 2003 record when recording 7.40! Likewise, the Year 5/6 winning girls' team of Jordyn, Emily and Annabelle were only 6 seconds off the record of 8.06.
Sarah, Andrew and Jack in the Year 3/4 mixed grade set the only NEW RECORD of the day - well done! For full results see: Teams' Tri. Results 2010
